(Obscène et Anémique # O&A 01, Cass, ltd 77) This is a desperate bubblegum pop album, influenced by the 50’s and 60’s French and Italian movies esthetics, filled with surreal sexy lounge muzak beats and hyperreal post-human popular songs, showing us black and white landscapes, pathetic figures, lonely dogs in a concrete desert, night life and loveless losers. Recorded shortly after “Attendre”, it is a bit similar in the atmosphere but more pop and straightforward. It features the usual instrumentation used on previous records, like accordion, cello, trumpet, mandoline and charango with this time the addition of more prominent electric guitars, bass, synthesizers and percussions. Somehow it is the second part in the “meditteranean post-pop” series (first being “Attendre” released on Reue Um Reue and third being “Felicita” coming soon on Vrystaete/Enfant Terrible). Drama pop at its best!
